GREED by Thomas Lipschultz 3/18/98 He stood in the shadows In his bright yellow cape With his grin in the air And a long string of tape Which he used to attach Passers-by on the road To his long list of dead Weighing down his load He carried with him A two-dollar bill Which he waved at the greedy Then placed on his sill When the people came over And the man felt their breath He grabbed them away And brought them to death He stood in the shadows With his grin in the air And his head on the ground With a cold frozen stare And he watched and he waited For people to see So their lives he could end And their minds he could be
